Get on TRAC (Technical Review Advancement Course)

TRAC is a study course designed to provide participants the opportunity to review technical data and practice exams in an interactive environment, affording designers the opportunity to assess their strengths and weaknesses. Through this process, designers can determine which areas may require further preparation. The course consists of one introductory session and eleven teaching sessions and utilizes the fourth edition of the "Interior Design Reference Manual" by David Ballast, A.I.A. This text is recommended by NCIDQ as a preparation guide and will be required for all participants in the course. In addition, a three-ring binder containing supplemental handouts will be provided for each participant.

All of the instructors have successfully passed the NCIDQ exam and many have also served as jurors as well as instructors. This has given the instructors a complete sense of what the candidates are missing in order to pass the exam, whether it is a lack of relevant field experience or inadequate knowledge of the most pertinent material. Included in this course is a review of the design process, because many of the candidates are so early in their careers that they have not experienced a project from start to finish but merely certain portions. Our goal is to explain the process in order to reinforce why certain tasks are important and to unify these items into a project instead of isolated entities.

The next Get on TRAC session will begin Thursday, May 29, 2008. Click here for registration information.
